How do I know the Professional is a Provider? EAP Employee Assistance Program Usually less than 8 sessions paid for by your employer to assessment the problem and provide brief interventions to alleviate problems. If longer term counseling is needed, you may be referred to your regular mental health coverage. The professional you have chosen has signed a contract with the mental health or behavioral health organization (BHO) to see their clients for an agreed upon fee. The provider has submitted paperwork about their background: degrees, licenses, liability insurance, specialties, and work history. This “approval” or “credentialing” does NOT mean your services will be paid. The provider MUST provide information that indicates services to you are needed, immediately and on an on-going basis. Out-of-Network Provider The professional you have chosen has NOT signed a contract with the mental health or behavioral health provider to see their clients for an agreed upon fee. You may be billed at the Providers regular rate for services. The provider may have submitted paperwork about their background: degrees, licenses, liability insurance, specialties, and work history. However, the insurance carrier (BHO) does not have a need for the specialty, another provider in the area, or does not accept this license in their network. This does NOT mean you cannot see this professional, if you choose. Services MAY be paid at a different rate. You may be asked to pay the professional and submit it to your insurance company. You may contact your insurance carrier to request the professional be given “AD HOC” status, if there are extenuating circumstances. The provider MUST provide information that indicates services to you are needed, immediately and on an on-going basis. |
